Observation tower Wałbrzych, Poland

The City of Wałbrzych was looking to revitalise Jan III Sobieski Park in Wałbrzych, Poland. They wanted to do this in several phases.

This unique project was part of the third phase of the park's revitalisation, which cost about 3 million złoty.

The observation tower is located at the top of a mountain in the middle of the park. Construction began in 2022 and was completed in late 2024.

Unique architectural design

The architectural form (architectural project was prepared by the group of architects from 'ISBA Grupa Projektowa') of the tower follows a geometrically disciplined industrial-style form, reflecting the city's industrial roots and heritage and referring specifically to the cooling towers formerly used in mining.

The entire complex consists of three main elements:

  • An entrance platform,
  • The main tower standing on the entrance platform,
  • An external ramp leading to the terrace on level +1.

The floor plans of all elements are based on a regular hexagonal shape.
The tower is 37.5 metres high and the highest viewing platform - the sixth - is 33 metres high. To reach it, visitors have to climb 220 steps. The entire structure required a total of 265 tonnes of steel.

Our share in the observation tower

Commissioned by the main investor 'City of Wałbrzych', we were also allowed to contribute to this special project.

As part of this project, Staco Polska supplied platform gratings and stair treads of the pressed RR type with a mesh size of 33x33 mm and load-bearing flat bars of 40x3, 50x3 and 50x4 mm.

To increase safety, the crossbars are anti-slip. In addition, all elements were hot-dip galvanised to ensure long-term anti-slip protection, with a total area of delivered products exceeding 1,800 m².
